Safety and fine quality of tablet packing are two characteristics that must be kept in mind by the producer if he desires to win the customer’s confidence. The packaging should protect against external factors, possibly altering the medicine’s properties (for instance sunlight or heat). Additionally, it has to defend against mechanical injuries and biological contamination. Most importantly, however, it should assure suitable drug recognition. Therefore, the packaging must include the name of the commonly applied active substance contained in the given pharmaceutical product. If more of them is used, all are supposed to be nominated and a plus symbol should be placed between them. The package must also include info on whether the pharmaceutical is intended for infants, kids or adults. The manner of dosage, the warnings regarding the place and method of storage, the expiry date, name and address of the entity responsible, the marketing authorization number, parcel number and guidance for dosage must as well be given if the medicinal product is issUEd without a prescription. There are also special guidelines for packaging graphic layouts.
Ubicating symbols such as chocolate, toys or decorations on them is strictly prohibited. This may result in a customer being misguided and considering the medicine as for instance food.
